Welcome to Stretch Yourself with Mad Mim and One Little Minute! It’s a new year, and the perfect time to put aside any apprehensions you may have about sewing with knits. Miriam and I have filled the next two weeks with information, tutorials, pattern reviews, giveaways, and guest projects all focused on teaching you how to sew with knit fabric. If you already feel comfortable with knits, we think you might learn something new. If you don’t know how to sew, this is a great time to learn! We have been working on this series since the idea was born last July, and we have tried hard to ensure that there is something here for everyone.

Whew! Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about sewing with knits, right? We’ve been sewing our nights away in preparation for this series, and are so thrilled with the piles of finished clothing that we’ve made. Everything is super basic but with endless variations. We hope you’ll find some stretchy fabric this week and sew along with us!

Miriam and I have learned a lot through experience, but also have definitely benefited from so many great tips and tricks we’ve seen online. Made by Rae did a series of “KNITerviews” in her series: KNITS (sub-titled “Stretch Yourself”! Great minds think alike!), on Sewaholic there is a roundup of some great posts about sewing with knits, Luvinthemommyhood also shared a list of her favorite resources, I love this post by Prudent Baby on sewing with jersey, and there are hundreds more.
