ta-ta-to-summer smoothie

Today is the final day of summer. Officially. Though weather-wise, the next few weeks here in DC will probably feel like my ideal summer: 80, breezy, and sunny. Here’s a salute to the summer in smoothie form. I had the best smoothie ever while in San Francisco a few weeks ago, and this nods a head in that direction. 
For one serving:
1/2 cup fresh (or frozen) strawberries
1/2 cup fresh (or frozen) blackberries
2 whole lemons, peeled, seeded and cut into chunks
1 handful fresh mint leaves
1 1/2 cups cold water
1 cup ice (if using fresh berries, or you want a chunkier smoothie)
sugar to taste-which in my case was zero, love that zippy lemon!
Blend, pour into glass, sip through a straw and remember all of the wonderful times had during summer 2010. There were many!
