I am so excited to show off the top I scored in The Button Up Refashion Swap. It was made by the talented Jen of Grainline Studio, and I could not be more impressed and thrilled with it! Jen hit the nail on the head by creating a colorful basic with some fun twists. I love the versatility of this sleeveless button up. The scalloped hem and cut outs make it interesting and funky. In addition to the design, this top is so well made! As you can see in her tutorial, Jen takes the time to do it right. And it shows. I knew that whatever Jen came up with would be wonderful, since she is an awesome designer with a completely drool-worthy clothing line, hound. I feel so lucky to have one of her fun pieces! (Two, if you count the Scout Tee that I made using her pattern…)
This top is so fun, I couldn’t stop at just one styling, so I tried out a few! First up, a casual color blocked look. The sea foam green Jen chose for me sits well in my wardrobe palate. I love the fun pairing with colored jeans, a lightweight cotton tee, and my favorite gold boat shoes.
(Yes, I am jumping for joy in that photo! Thought I’d try out a little professional modeling trick. It was pretty fun.) (And yes, I know I have baggy knees. I was on day two of these chartreuse jeans. I love the color and wear them almost every day. I wish they kept their shape a tiny bit better!)
My sister (who was in town when the top arrived) said she loved the double collar look, so I tried it out with a basic white button up beneath, and I love it too! I added my go-to polka dot pencil skirt, a skinny belt, and gold ballet flats to complete the look.
Finally, I love that the top matches my new bathing suit perfectly! I will totally pull this on with a pair of comfy cutoffs and my gold gladiators to head to the pool or the beach this summer!
So, basically I am in love with this top. Jen, you made my summer!! As you can see, I also had a pretty hilarious time taking a hundred photos of myself with my new tripod/remote on my porch while Dave was at work and the boys were sleeping. I’ve got to get better at hiding the little clicker. Hmm…I’ll work on that. And, I realized I am obsessed with gold shoes. I guess having a pair for every occasion makes dressing easy!
There are still five more swappers to see! Today, you can head over to check out the skirt that Krista made for Suzannah, then follow the schedule below for the rest of the week:
Thursday, May 24th: Miriam of MadMim and Melissa of I Still Love You
Friday, May 25th: Megan of Megan Nielsen Designs and Jennifer of Grainline Studio
Isn’ t this swap fun! I loved seeing all the tutorials, and now I am loving seeing the finished products on their owners! I can’t wait to make a few of these button up refashions, including another sleeveless scalloped top…
