Welcome to Earth Little One…
June 12, 2010
This morning we welcomed a new nephew into the world! He made it safely after two days of semi-complicated labor and three hours of pushing. Whew! I have had this sweet family in my head and heart these last couple days as I waited and wondered and hoped about the journey they were on. This reflection has also taken me back to my own childbirth experience. I posted about it a little here, but the following photos never made it onto the blog. I think Dave and I were initially a little disappointed that they were blurry (oh, the age of digital perfection) But, now I love them. They are a perfect reflection of the whirlwind moment of Milo’s Welcome to Earth.

Isn’t it a miracle that we make it through? Each little soul literally coming forth from another. I’ve never heard of a totally perfect entry. Even Eve was prepared with the knowledge, “…in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children…” From a natural vaginal birth to a scheduled c-section, bringing forth children involves much physical trauma and recovery. And it is all worth it. Every cry of pain, drip of sweat, threat of death if we are touched, sitz bath, stitch knot, and tucks pad. I truly believe that there is no greater joy, probably because there is no greater sacrifice, than that of motherhood.
Congratulations Kate, Eric and baby Aldon. We love you!
