Every 2 years my mom’s dad’s family gets together for a reunification. Poppa Wright has 3 brothers, and the “four brothers” all have great big fun families. It’s a tradition that I appreciate more now that I’m a little older. I’m sure it’s not easy for everyone to haul their broods to wherever the lucky planner decides. This year it was in Utah, at This Is The Place Park.
But before we hit the park, all of my mom’s family shacked up for a couple days at our house…17 of them!! This is uncles Bill and Steve and Poppa enjoying the vaca.Thank goodness for a big back yard and a pool with tons of little visitors. It was fun to see everyone play and swim every day and night.Poppa and Milo got along great. He told me that I turned out to be a lot better mama than he thought I would be!! (he’s a jokester)Mamo and Poppa live in Northern California in a tiny town called Quincy. It’s a treat whenever they come visit, or we head up there to see them. There’s my wide-eyed boy enjoying a family BBQ. He’s pretty facinated by the camera!
Here’s three of the “four brothers.” Floyd passed away last year, and he was sure missed this year. One of my favorite memories is of Floyd, Poppa, Joe and Will sitting on the porch, comparing their arthritic fingers. I’m not sure who won!
This Is The Place is a beautiful, quaint little place. Dave, Milo and I baked in the summer heat as we walked from little house to house learning about the pioneers.
Poppa Wright passed on some great genes to his 3 sons…and some bald ones too!
Mamo, Poppa and their chillins. This family is fun and crazy and I love seeing them. It’s always a wild experience! We can’t wait to see you all again in 2011 in Quincy!!
